2020/2021 Church Elections:

Our district leaders have begun having weekly online meetings with all pastors on the Pittsburgh District. These will continue until the current situation with Covid-19/Corona virus is over.

After some discussion and reflection at the last meeting, Pastor Poling has decided to forgo annual church elections this year. All those elected last year will continue in their place of service until the next church year begins in 2021.

The Church of the Nazarene has made this allowance for churches and pastors, in light of the fluidity of the situation we now find ourselves in.

Things may be back to normal next week. But this is not a realistic expectation. So rather than ‘kick the can down the road’ and hope for the best, Pastor Poling made this decision, reluctantly.

With that said, thanks to all who have replied to their nomination letter. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Need help during the pandemic?

If you find yourself adversely affected by this pandemic and need help or assistance such as obtaining groceries and/or household supplies, please contact us. If we’re unable to help you – we will try to connect you with someone who can. With God and one another, we will make it through this.

Our Response to COVID-19: Suspension Notice

We have been monitoring the spread of COVID-19 in Western Pennsylvania and in the state of West Virginia. Since our communications earlier today, a case of the virus has been confirmed in Washington County.

Due to our proximity to that case our staff has made the decision to suspend all of our church services (AM/PM) and activities (adult, teen, and children) until the spread of COVID-19 is controlled in our area. Once services are reinstated, we will abide by the policies we put forward earlier today until this pandemic is declared over.

This decision was not made out of fear but made to show love to our neighbors especially those who are the most susceptible to contracting the virus.

For this Sunday (3/15), we would like you to utilize your free RightNow Media account to do a morning Bible study with your family. If you have yet to set up for your free RightNow Media account, please text “RightNow WFCN” to 41411 or go to http: http://bit.ly/WaynesburgNaz. For next Sunday (3/22), we will work hard to be able to live stream our service via Facebook. We will share those details with you as soon as we have them.

You’re welcome to hold onto your tithe check until services are reinstated, however, we recommend that you use this time to take advantage of our online giving option! Please visit www.waynesburgnaz.org/give to set up your account and give.

If you have any additional questions, please email Tresa Poling at wbgnaz@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/WaynesburgNazChurch.

Please help us communicate this information to those among us who are not on the internet.

May you put your hope and trust in God, and may you set aside time each day to pray for this pandemic and to show love to those affected by it.

In Christ,

Rev. John Mark Poling

Senior Pastor.

Our response to COVID-19: New Policies/Procedures

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Communication

March 13, 2020

Waynesburg First COTN is staying up to date with the progress of the COVID-19 virus around the world. Currently, there are no known cases in Western Pennsylvania or in the State of West Virginia.

To help provide a safe environment for our congregants, we have taken the following actions:

  • We have increased our regular and thorough cleaning routine, focusing on touchpoints like door handles, railings, and light switches.
  • We ask that everyone entering the church follow a “no contact” policy. Please do not shake hands, hug, or touch others – smiles and conversations are welcome and encouraged.
  • Beginning this weekend, we will not pass the offering plates. There will be donation receptacles located at the entrance/exit to the sanctuary. We also encourage you to consider giving your offering gift online at www.waynesburgnaz.org/give.
  • We’re temporarily postponing communion.
  • All communal meals for all age groups will be cancelled through remainder of March.
  • All snacks and drinks served will be individually wrapped or packaged.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in various locations throughout the foyer and classrooms.

If you’re exhibiting any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus or the general flu (fever, cough, congestion, body aches, sore throat, etc.) we ask that you follow the recommendation of the Center for Disease Control and stay home. There is no need to feel guilty about staying home – if you’re homebound, let us know how we can help!

If you’re sick, audio and video versions of our services will be uploaded on Sunday afternoons to www.waynesburgnaz.org/media. Also, we will begin utilizing Facebook Live to live stream our services beginning March 22nd.

Please join our Leadership as we pray for discernment during this time. As always, we trust God for his protection, and may we remember during these uncertain times that God did not give us a spirit of timidity: thus, we do not let fear overtake us. May we also remember the vulnerable among us as we continue to love God and love others.

As the spread of COVID-19 develops, we will continue to assess the situation and communicate the necessary changes to our plan of action. If you have additional questions, please email Tresa Poling at wbgnaz@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/WaynesburgNazChurch.

In Christ,

Rev. John Mark Poling
Senior Pastor
